Momo Ma Pak Yin is a Hong Kong-born artist.
Rooted in the maritime landscapes of Hong Kong, her practice navigates non-human narratives, shifting temporalities and forms of communication that emerge through objects, infrastructures and environments. Through sound and material inquiry, she examines how places are shaped by processes of transformation, displacement and ecological change.
Grounded in the Asian diasporic experience, Ma explores heritage and cultural memory through the intertwined forces of ecology and geopolitics. Her research engages radio technologies and alternative modes of listening as ways of understanding how sound carries memory, mediates distance and enables dialogue across fractured geographies. By attending to both sound and silence, she investigates how histories are transmitted, transformed and sometimes erased through migration, territorial change and borders.
Her works often draw upon field recordings, archival images, oral histories and found objects, weaving together personal experiences and collective histories to reveal unseen connections across time and place.
